LEARNING OBJECTIVES INCLUDE:
Distinguish the various functions of the clinical counseling supervisor in the context of the professional development of counselors in a variety of counseling settings, including specific issues surrounding supervision for license. Discuss and integrate a working knowledge of the codes of ethics related to clinical supervision that promotes quality assurance and ethical processes in the area of clinical counselor supervision. Discuss common ethical dilemmas related specifically to counselor supervision. Identify common models of clinical supervision to include the basic tenets, advantages and disadvantages for each model. Learn how to formulate their own personal model of counselor supervision. Learn how to screen potential supervisees to determine if appropriate to provide supervision (i.e. pre-screen interview components, core qualities, personality, contracts) Understand different roles and issues involved in the supervisory relationship once established: such as trust, recovery status of counselor and supervisor, the role of power, and the working alliance, supervisee burnout, professional development and proper evaluation, and issues specific to the license process. Identify at least four appropriate tools and strategies to evaluate the competency of a supervisee (clinical performance appraisal), and meeting the training/development needs of in ways consistent with clients' welfare (gatekeeping of the profession).

Dare to Dream is owned by Leslie Phillips, LPC-SC, NCC, and works with those who "Dare to Dream" to reach their goals. Leslie Phillips is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Counseling Supervisor, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She has been in the field of mental health since 1997, and has over 15 years of Clinical Experience, providing services in the Huntsville, Guntersville, Arab, Decatur, Athens, and Moulton Alabama areas. Leslie has a Master's Degree in Counseling and Psychology from the University of West Alabama. Her experience includes counseling in a variety of settings, ranging from private practice to professional organizations, as well as mental health centers. Leslie has experience in supervising and managing mental health programs, staffs, and subsequent services, as well as ensuring quality assurance and performance improvement. She also has experience in providing training for mental health professionals. Leslie oversees the program "Leslie Phillips Seminars®" which hosts continuing education seminars for mental health professionals, primarily hosted in the Northern Alabama area as this program is an NBCC approved continuing education provider, and an Alabama SW continuing education approved provider. In addition to this practice, Leslie has provided supervision for those seeking state of Alabama LPC licensure since 2011. Leslie also teaches Undergraduate Psychology and Human Service courses with Columbia College.

Alicia Winkle, LPC, BC-TMH, has been in the mental health field since 2010. Since receiving her license, she has provided individual therapy to children, adolescents, and adults with a multitude of mental conditions, and she currently specializes in trauma and anxiety in her private practice, Pearl Behavioral Health Services, founded in 2015. In addition to providing individual therapy, she was previously a crisis screener in a local emergency department and a therapist for adult intensive day treatment for clients suffering from serious mental illnesses. In addition to private practice, Alicia is currently the Director of Therapist Training & Orientation at Talkspace, a platform for online therapy based in New York City, and she has provided telemental health counseling with the company since 2015. She is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and completed her licensure while working with registered sexual offenders. Prior to receiving her LPC, Alicia worked in residential and lock-down facilities, providing direct care for adolescents. Currently, Alicia serves as the Secretary for the Alabama Counseling Association Chapter 2 Organization. She earned both her B.S. in Psychology (2009) and M.A. in Community Counseling (2012) from The University of North Alabama.

REFUND, CANCELLATION, CERTIFICATE, POSTPONEMENT, REFUSAL OF SERVICE POLICY:
Refunds: If a refund is requested by the participant, a partial refund, minus a $25.00 adminstrative fee will be given within two weeks of the event. All cancellations must be in writing, thus emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org is preferred. No refunds will be issued if received less than 2 weeks of the event. Please note if a participant fails to contact us as well as fails to appear for the seminar, no refunds will be issued, nor will attendance of another seminar be allowed.
Cancellations: If Leslie Phillips Seminars® cancels a seminar, a full refund will be given. Leslie Phillips Seminars® reserves the right to cancel any seminar due to low enrollment. Postponements: At times, postponing a seminar may be unavoidable (such as illness of a presenter, family tragedy, etc). If a seminar is postponed, all registered will have the option to attend the seminar on the newly scheduled date, or have their registration transferred to another seminar of their choice within the next 6 months. No refunds will be given. If a seminar is not attended within that 6 month period, attendance of another seminar is forfeited.
Certificates: It is the policy and procedure of Leslie Phillips Seminars® to provide our customers with their certificate at the end of each seminar. Because we provide this in person, at the conclusion of all seminars, the following policy is adhered to: 1. If a customer loses, misplaces, fails to get their certificate before leaving for the day, or otherwise cannot find their certificate that was originally provided at their seminar, Leslie Phillips Seminars® will provide an additional certificate electronically with an administrative charge of $15.00.
